We're working on posting an English translation of the review in February 2007 MoonShiner Bluegrass Journal of Japan.

We're unable to post a link to the review in March 2007 Bluegrass Unlimited, but here are excerpts from Steve Goldfield's text: "The band plays straight-ahead traditional bluegrass and classic country... It would be unfair to compare this band to one featuring the great Joe Val, but they are excellent bearers of the Boston bluegrass sound rooted in the Lilly Brothers and Don Stover and taken in new directions by Val and Applin ... You're My Darling ... is representative of their bluegrass numbers ... Down by The River is a successful adaptation of an Uncle Dave tune to bluegrass which retains the quirky feel of the original ... I Hear My Savior Calling shows their skill at gospel harmonies ... There is a Trap features Lillian Fraker's lead singing ... Dear Mary comes from Linda Thompson but becomes bluegrass in a kind of Country Gentlemen style ... Herb Applin's solo tenor voice soars on Jealous Heart, and you can almost see Joe Val nodding in approval ... My Blue Ridge Memories is from Don Stover's last recording and reminds us what a great songwriter he was ... Tolland Deserted ... evokes the sadness of an abandoned village ... the one instrumental is the Hartford-inspired Squared Off Salt Creek with the clash of chords against the melody ... Their arrangement of Richard Thompson's Down Where the Drunkards Roll nicely captures the pensive feel of the song ... This recording, with one foot solidly planted in tradition and the other in the more contemporary, keeps its balance well. Many bluegrass fans will want to walk along with them.

Our thanks to Steve Goldfield and Bluegrass Unlimited for the kind words!
